Business Affairs Intern - Detroit Pistons / Palace Sports & Entertainment (Auburn Hills, MI)

Here in Detroit we know the meaning of hard work and pride. With the backing of Tom Gores and Platinum Equity, the Detroit Pistons, the Palace of Auburn Hills, DTE Energy Music Theatre, Meadow Brook Amphitheatre, and Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill have hustled their way to the top of the sports and entertainment world. 

If you have what it takes, then we want you on our bench this summer. As the Business Affairs Intern, you’ll provide support to our Business Affairs/Legal team in conducting legal research, as well as the revision of contracts and other strategic projects. You’ll have the opportunity to be a part of our 2017 Summer Internship Program, designed to provide college students and post graduate students with real life, hands-on experience that can be readily applied to future challenges and professional pursuits.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Conducting legal research.
  • Reviewing and analyzing contracts.
  • Participating on strategic projects.
  • Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Business Affairs department to support and accelerate the rest of the organization.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A top-performing law student with a passion for sports.
  • A strategic and creative thinker who enjoys collaborating with others in various departments.
  • Hard-working, self-improver who is hungry, proactive, and has a positive attitude.
  • Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week, unless otherwise agreed upon with their supervisor.
  • Must be able to commit to a 12 week assignment.
  • Ability to provide reliable transportation to and from the Palace of Auburn Hills, as well as provide their own housing throughout the duration of the internship.

2017 Summer Internship Program - Detroit Pistons / Palace Sports & Entertainment (Auburn Hills, MI)

Our Summer Internship Program is a 12-week development program intended to provide college students and recent graduates with a rare and special opportunity within the sports and entertainment industry. We designed our program to stretch and grow you, while delivering real life, hands-on experience that you’ll use in future challenges. Take a peek at this summer’s opportunities to decide where you fit best on our team:

MARKETING INTERN

  • Assisting the Advertising & Promotions team with media planning and pre-promotional and onsite/offsite event activation for the 2017 Summer Concert Series.
  • Supporting the Brand Strategy team with campaign development and event execution.
  • Providing assistance to the Community Relations team with charity program scheduling for the Pistons Care Player Charity Ticket program and NBA Cares activations.
  • Supporting the Brand Networks team with planning reengagement and acquisition campaigns, as well as providing social coverage for the 2017 Summer Concert Series and other events

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS INTERN

  • Assisting in the research of Corporate Partnership prospects, creating impactful sponsorship proposals and reviewing sales process documents.
  • Engaging with partners and fans while assisting in onsite activations at each of our venues.
  • Supporting the Corporate Partnerships team in day-to-day tasks and processes.

GROUP SALES INTERN

  • Brainstorming ideas for potential theme nights and contributing to the creation of the 2017/18 Pistons Season Group Sales calendar. 
  • Supporting and demonstrating outbound sales efforts for the 2017-18 Pistons season by facilitating Group Leader prospecting receptions.
  • Working closely on lead generation, reception invitations, and reception execution.
  • Assisting with DTE Group Sales campaigns and events throughout the 2017 Summer Concert Series. 

VENUE EVENT OPERATIONS INTERN

  • Working with Managers and Supervisors to ensure all PS&E events are properly staffed.
  • Managing events alongside the Guest Services department throughout the duration of the 2017 Summer Concert Series.
  • Supporting the Guest Services department with uniform distribution, lost and found pick-up, and other guest or employee concerns or iniatives.

EVENT COORDINATION INTERN

  • Supporting the Entertainment team in the coordination of event execution for the 2017 Summer Concert Series.
  • Working to support the organization and execution of all tour requests, VIP parties and other event needs.
  • Communicating with internal departments to set-up and manage necessary needs to carry out a successful event.
  • Supporting the Event Coordinators with any organizational needs both in the office and during events.
